The Sagittarius sun lights up the sky this December, showering our winter holidays with an atmosphere of optimism, fun and generosity.  It’s a welcome energetic shift that uplifts everyone’s moods and focuses our attention on the spirit of celebration and travel to connect with family and friends.  The Sagittarius sun, coupled with the Mercury retrograde period until mid December, turns our thoughts inward to reflect on the past year and begin dreaming of the bigger picture that lies ahead in 2012.  The archer will pull its arrow back so we can narrow our target on the New Year’s resolutions we want to master.

What are you passionate about?  What skills and talents need to be awakened and nurtured?  The quest for higher learning and adventure is the theme of the Sagittarian cycle.  Dare to dream big and explore visionary ideas for the coming year.  It’s your time to figure out how you’d like to change the course of your path and live a life that emotionally and spiritually inspires you on a daily basis.

Now that we have the holidays of Christmas and Hanukkah upon us, this Jupiter ruled sign will inspire everyone to do lots of holiday shopping for gifts, family dinners, parties and the arrivals of out of town guests.  Our thoughts will center around our sense of abundance, and what makes us feel prosperous and confident.  Remember that the best gifts come from the heart, so think about how you can give of yourself this holiday season and share your resources with others.

Mercury will continue its retrograde movement until December 13th so make sure to watch out for accidents, travel related hiccups and back up important files on your computer.  Legal matters may be revisited and get closer to being resolved during this phase.  And, for some, it may bring back people from the past or have them evaluating the direction of their relationships.  Don’t be surprised to have a come to Jesus moment that challenges what you may have thought to be true.  Retrogrades have a way of illuminating new solutions and choices because it slows down the pace to allow your intuition to show you a new way of thinking.

Fasten your seat belts!  Uranus goes direct on December 10th.  Prepare for a shake up to an old condition and becoming more independent and assertive.  Discover that inner fire that supports taking a sledgehammer and blasting through boundaries, indecision and hiding behind someone else to achieve your goals.  This transit puts a mirror up and shows you the potential that lies in taking a leadership position in your life.

On the same day, we’ll also be experiencing a total lunar eclipse during the Full moon in Gemini.  People may be reunited in the spirit of the holidays, so communication and social gatherings will be the highlight.  The full moon will encourage communication in all of its forms, by email, greeting cards, telephone.  However the lunar eclipse may also cause some scattered thinking and difficulty in remaining focused on the tasks at hand.  If some people act a little moody or wonky right now, it’s just a temporary reaction to the Full moon.  Carry a piece of Blue Lace Agate or Rose Quartz to keep your energies calm and surrounded in a loving vibe.

Just a three days later Mercury goes direct and our ways of communicating with others improve and begin to put us on a similar page.  Keep in mind that it will be a gradual process until the shadow period at the end of the month allows you to finally kiss and make up with friends or colleagues.  They may be in a better place emotionally to hear what you’re saying and not misconstrue the intention.

Venus enters Aquarius on December 20th.  People may ask for more space when Venus hangs with independence seeking Aquarius, and crave time with old friends.  It’s definitely an energy of unpredictability, where a person may wake up and decide that it’s time to invest in a lifestyle change.

On December 22nd, the Winter Solstice begins, ushering a new season for the sun to move into the more industrial minded Capricorn.  The next four weeks will be filled with an energy of high expectations, discipline and getting things done.  No dilly dallying now that this Saturn ruled sign is keeping a careful eye on the projects that need to be completed, whether it’s at the office or at home for the upcoming holiday festivities.  We’ll all experience more structure to our thoughts and stability in our actions now that the Capricorn cycle is instructing us on how to move forward with our goals.

Think about the new beginnings you want to manifest in your career and finances when the New Moon goes into the sign of Capricorn on December 24th.  You have the drive and the tenacity to work hard and achieve whatever you set your mind to.  Now’s the time to begin something new that brings prosperity and more structure to your life.

Christmas comes bearing gifts of money, physical healing and renewed advancement on December 25th, when Jupiter goes direct on that same day.  Be open to the possibilities now that the planet of luck and expansion is once again moving forward.

Imagine walking down the corridor of your life, with a key that opens every closet.  Each closet is like a living diary, containing our deepest, darkest secrets; favorite and painful memories; truest feelings.  Some doors we open every day, smiling at the memories they re-awaken.  Others, we walk past, afraid of opening a Pandora’s box that can never again be closed.  What aspects of your life are you afraid to unlock and examine?  What items in your closet need to be donated to the cosmic thrift store so you can shed the emotional baggage?

November brings out the personal sleuth within when the sun dives into the mysterious waters of Scorpio and stirs our appetite for clarity.  We’re called to explore hidden agendas, past life connections and secrets.  This is a month of cleansing and healing from a soul level, reaching deep within ourselves for the answers that will ultimately set us free.  And once we have those answers, power scrubbing the emotional space that allowed those influences to take hold and live rent free.

Meditate on the energy of the Hanged Man tarot card to release control and old behaviors that no longer work.  The Hanged man will help you look at things from a fresh perspective so that a period of suspension can reveal where your energy is best served moving forward. The lesson of the Scorpio cycle is not to fear the depths of darkness, but to embrace the journey of wisdom, internal change and awareness of the truth.  Some relationships and situations are in our lives to fulfill a karmic purpose.

Spiritual practices will dominate the landscape now that the Sun’s in Scorpio until November 21st.  Neptune goes direct on November 9th, lending support to intuitive development and employing the Angels for enlightenment.  It’s a wonderful time to work on your spirituality to get re-centered, at peace and tap into the Divine guidance from within.

On November 10, the Full Moon’s in Taurus, asking us to look at our security and be prepared for a back up plan to achieve financial wellness.  This particular Taurus Full Moon may cause a shake up to conditions that once appeared comfortable and guide us towards releasing what no longer serves our growth, so we can move into a new, stable direction.  That night, Mars heads into the discerning realm of Virgo at 11:15 pm eastern.  Be ready to enter a cycle promoting clutter clearing, organization and great attention to detailed resourcefulness.

It brings out the nit-pickiness people, where they feel torn between acting and over-thinking things.  When in doubt, adopt a let go and let God approach to any problems that take up more than a day’s space in your mind.  The Scorpio cycle will encourage turning to your spiritual team to create movement when you are in a period of pause and reflection.

On November 22nd, the Sun moves into fun loving Sagittarius, preparing us for a four week cycle of renewed enthusiasm, generosity, and practicing gratitude now that Thanksgiving is just a few days away.  The upcoming holiday season is soon to be upon us, filled with family gatherings, travel and an opportunity to be more charitable to those in need.  Mercury goes retrograde on the 23rd.  Back up your computers, exercise patience and expect potential travel delays, scheduling snafus and miscommunication.

The New Moon on the 25th will be in the sign of Sagittarius, encouraging us to look ahead and make a wish on the inspired life we want to cultivate in 2012.  Great time to sign up for a yoga class, go on a fun adventure or act on that fire in your belly that is about to birth true visionary innovation.  The month ends with Venus moves into purposeful Capricorn on November 26th.  You’ll feel a shift in priorities and the energy turns more toward where is that relationship and job ultimately heading.  Venus will ask the serious questions about long term potentials now that the backdrop is in dutiful Capricorn.

August begins with an abrupt about face when Mercury turns retrograde on August 2nd and begins retracing its steps through Virgo. Over the next three weeks we’ll return to unfinished business, reverse recent decisions we’ve made and discover alternate paths to our goals. The very next day, Mars, the planet of movement, will dive into the emotional sign of Cancer. This will limit our progress and force us inward to discover spiritual direction for our most pressing problems. Archangel Michael is the one to call on during this retrograde phase, known for his ability to address computer, car and communication devices, which are sure to act up during the first two weeks of this month.

Numerologically, August and the sign of Leo resonate to 8, the number that represents personal rebirth, generosity and confidence. As we adjust our visions and go within, a new source of spiritual power and authenticity is sure to emerge. In the Tarot, the Strength card represents authentic power and the ability to tame one’s inner imbalances. We all tend to notice a return to self during this month, and meditating with the Strength card will assure a smooth transition during this transformational and empowering time period.

Mercury will back into Leo on Monday, August 8, opening a ten day window for second chances. August 13th’s Aquarius full Moon will generate a number of breakthroughs, reminding us that the Universe is always working behind the scenes on our behalf. This powerful lunation will reveal how what once seemed a disappointment or loss is now beginning to play out as a blessing. If we are still seeking answers for an important problem, we can call on Archangel Uriel during this time, known for his power to provide the perfect solution.

The Leo Sun will hit its peak on Tuesday the 16th and generate a loving and contented energy around us. Though we’ll have to be cautious about looking through rose-colored glasses this week, much of what we see and experience will bring authentic joy and harmony into our lives.

The Sun will make its yearly entrance into Virgo on Tuesday, August 23rd. This transition can bring out our analytical sides, so we must take care not to turn to nitpicking or to try to change the minds or opinions of others. However, we can plant seeds for change by simply acknowledging where adjustments might be needed.

Shared conversation will be a theme on Thursday, August 25th as we reach out to compare notes or gain greater information from those around us. This will result in a valuable review, essential as Mercury returns to forward motion the next day. We can capitalize on this shift by inviting our creative sides to come out and play this weekend while Mercury begins to retrace its steps through self-empowering Leo.

The Virgo new Moon occurs on Sunday, August 28th, marking the fact that important changes will arrive over the next two weeks. If you are looking for improvement in health, finances or career, this is the new Moon to make a wish upon!

Jupiter brings the month to a close by turning retrograde on August 30th. Jupiter carries the energy of fortune and in Taurus, where it will travel backward until Christmas Day, we’ll get the chance to revise, renew or update our physical worlds. Whether we’ve been dealing with health, finance or security issues, this is a four month phase when fate will step in and give us a helping hand.

Happy Spring! Get back in the driver’s seat of your life. Rock out your ideas this month when the sun hangs out in pioneering Aries through April 20th. With the start of the astrological new year well underway, Aries people, the official go-getters of the zodiac, are feeling the urge to push through the gates and kick start projects with energy and determination. Fueled by Mars in Aries, no one can stand in their way when they are inspired to act on an idea and birth new creativity.

The Mercury retrograde will amp up intuition, so hunches will be Divinely guided. Spend time in meditation and journal to tap into the wisdom found within. Just keep in mind that the retrograde’s backwards motion through Aries calls everyone to retrace their steps and exercise patience, especially when plans need a revision or a new do over before they can move forward. This is a cosmic reminder that careful thought must be made to goals to see them through successfully.

Communication may also be challenged until Mercury goes direct on April 23rd. Be prepared to have to clear up misunderstandings by explaining yourself in a gentler manner, or diffuse an angry interaction with compassion and grace. Because this energy can result in scattered thoughts and emotions, the mercury retrograde will bring an opportunity to clear up mis-communications with colleagues and friends.  The Gemini full moon on the 21st empowers careful thought and judgment in order to make the most of the lessons of the messenger this month.  Get support through your network, take things slowly and make sure your financials and communications are double-checked before passing go.

Where do you need to take more responsibility for your life and your happiness? This full moon eclipse sets up the foundation for releasing what no longer serves you to make room for better things to enter your reality. No matter what has happened in the past, the December Sagittarian cycle fuels faith in our ability to co-create miracles through the magic of your spirituality. So, take back your power by researching and exploring your options in those areas so you can see where your next step lies. Engage in holistic self-care and practice healthy boundaries as you integrate this new energy into your life.  I drew from the Tarot for more insight into the energy of these next few weeks and got the Death card. The Death card heralds a time of letting go of the past and old patterns in order to make room for the transformation that is already occurring on a deeper level.

In what areas do you need to surrender control and change your perspective for a new door to open?  This retro period is a perfect opportunity to shed old skins, re-organize and let go of possessions that keep us emotionally corded to the past.  De-clutter, meditate and space clear to gain clarity and new energy flow. Your intuition will be heightened during this period so definitely listen to what the Universe has to say and take time to sit in silence and wait for more guidance.  The main message of this retrograde is to trust in the process, detach from the outcome and let go of any fear or poverty consciousness so your Angels can light the way for the big changes ahead.

Redefine your self-esteem and allow a new way of thinking to emerge from the transformations. By the end of this retrograde cycle, we’ll have new practical information to redirect our course and receive insights to get through any challenges.

My girlfriend wants to take a break. She says she still loves me but she says things have changed. She seems to just have a lot going on and I’m worried this will be the end of us. What can I expect?

Hi C!

Well, she’s definitely trying to take care of herself right now. She’s maintaining boundaries and space to do what is right for her. You didn’t have much say in the matter as she made a decision to focus on her personal issues that may be related to financial independence and self improvement. Either advancing her career or getting the training and coursework that can improve her ability to receive better pay in a job. So, that led to her having to choose between her goals or the relationship and the relationship got put on hold.

However, I’m not sensing any third party or other romantic interest being a reason for her wanting a breather from the relationship. Sometimes people just need time to themselves to clear their head and get some responsibilities taken care of before they can refocus on a partnership. Or, they may feel their life has gotten out of balance and may take that time apart to figure out what they really want. The Mercury retrograde in Libra on September 24th can definitely bring an opportunity to reconnect and reconcile with people from the past or people that are on the outs with one another. It’s a great time to revisit issues in relationships that need resolution and healing for a second chance at a new beginning. Many people may even feels its effects a few weeks before the retrograde starts.

So intuitively I feel that if you just leave her alone for a bit to catch up, things could come back together sooner than you think and in an even better form. Your tarot spread was dominated by cups, especially the Two of Cups and Ten of Cups in the center, which are a clear sign that things can strengthen and deepen between you two romantically. Let her be the one to re-open the door to communication and a reconciliation though, since she is the one that proposed taking a break. If you take my advice, I see a phone call reconnecting you both. I would even venture to say that she won’t be able to be apart for more than a few weeks before she calls – if you can be strong and stand back. Expect her to return before the end of September.
